Where is it Brewed?:
Chico, CA
Style:
Extra Special Bitter / Strong Bitter

With the new beers from Sierra Nevada, 2009 must be the year of the bitter beers. Good news for me.

The Sierra Nevada ESB, or Early Spring Beer, is an unfiltered ESB that combines English and West Coast styles to create a hoppy beer with a crisp, dry finish.

Where is it Brewed?:
Boston, MA
Style:
Brown Ale

Brown ales are a bit of mystery to me. Neither malty nor hoppy, these are typically a darker compliment to the Amber ales of the world - good, starter craft-brewed beers, but they rarely grab your attention. The beer in this category that stands out for me is the Belgian Rodenbach Classic - one of the tastiest red/amber beers in the world.
