Brown Ale Brown ales are a bit of mystery to me. Neither malty nor hoppy, these are typically a darker compliment to the Amber ales of the world - good, starter craft-brewed beers, but they rarely grab your attention. The beer in this category that stands out for me is the Belgian Rodenbach Classic - one of the tastiest red/amber beers in the world.
