NPR loves BEER

National Public Radio aired a piece on the state of the brewery business today--if you get a minute read the article here.  Not surprisingly the beer business weathers the recession better than most industries, with consumers choosing more domestic brands over imports.  I think professional brewers, analysts and other industry watchers would have been able to confirm these trends in past recessions, but it's good to see them holding true now that we are in the 'dark times.'

The story had a few interesting numbers, such as every American over 21 drinks more than 30 gallons of beer annually, and when all four bottling lines are operating the new Group Modelo brewery being built just south of the border it will produce over 7,200 bottles per minute.  This new brewery is going to be so big that it will be able to produce enough Corona to supply the entire US market.  That's alot of Corona in one place!

I also wanted to flag a few other NPR articles related to beer (public radio loves beer--who knew?!):
