The thing I've enjoyed the most since starting this site has been the opportunity to try beers again. Suddenly I have a reason to try new beers - I need content for the site! I've been on an $8/12pack Miller High Life run for too long to admit (it is the champagne of beers, after all). Plus, one of the goals in starting this site was to get "back in to" beer. What do you know, its working.
Yesterday evening I was working from home as New England got hit with another ice storm and realized I was fresh out of beer. Seeking ideas on beers to try, I turned to my Beer Observer twitter & asked for suggestions. Almost immediately, ohabeer responded with
Now, I must admit that I haven't purchased, or even drank, a porter-style ale since I last brewed a batch of Muddy River Porter at Boston Beer Works. At first glance, this was not the suggestion I was seeking.

However, I started the beer observer so I could drink new beers - and here was a chance to walk the walk. Now, I've been a fan a Flying Dog Brewery since attending the Great American Beer Festival year in and out during the 1990s. The best part - the Road Dog Porter rocks! I'm a devout hop-head and its bitter, Warrior & Cascade hops drying out the finish - great logo and great beer.

Next time you're looking to find a new beer to try, tap into the tweet stream. You'll be surprised what you might find.
